Egypt and Ahli star Mohamed Abou-Treika remains in contention to win CAF's award for Best Player based in Africa, while Essam Al-Hadari was omitted from the shortlist. After issuing a shortlist of 32 local-based players last month, African football governing body CAF cut the nominations list down to five. Veteran Abou-Treika kept his place, along with Mazembe's Zambian duo Stoppila Sunzu and Rainford Kalaba and Esperance pair Youssef Msakni and Yannick N'Djeng. Tunisia international Oussama Darragi was the man who clinched the gong last year after leading Esperance to the CAF Champions League title. As for the African Player of the Year award, another list of 34 was cut down to 10, which includes the likes of Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba and Alexander Song. Winners will be unveiled by CAF on December 20 in Accra.
