Ahmed Elmohamady's half-time introduction hardly helped Sunderland avoid a thumping 5-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday. The Black Cats suffered their sixth defeat in the last seven games to become just six points off the relegation zone in 12th place. A goal from Adam Johnson and a Carlos Tevez penalty gave the hosts a 2-0 first-half lead as Elmohamady came on to replace the cautioned Phil Bardsley. But the Egypt wing-back couldn't help his side avoid a further beating, with David Silva, Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure completing to City's comprehensive win. The Citizens moved up to third place in the Premier League table, ten points adrift of leaders and city rivals Manchester United. Sunderland's next game will be against close rivals West Brom, who stunned Liverpool on Saturday.
