Esperance boss Faouzi Benzarti believes that the result of the first-leg Champions League semi-final clash with Ahli will be key to his side's chances. "The first leg is more important," Benzarti, who led Esperance to league victory last season, told Essahafa newspaper. "If we want to get past Ahli, we must achieve a positive result in Cairo, that's why we will play for that purpose." The Tunisians visit Ahli on Sunday before the return leg takes place in Tunis in two weeks time. The last time both teams clashed was in 2007, when Esperance registered a 1-0 group stage victory before Ahli went on to reach the final. Esperance have not conceded a single goal in their five league matches so far this season as they lead the table with 13 points.
