Anderlecht decided to stop their attempts to land Zamalek playmaker Shikabala but did not clarify whether or not they will keep pursuing him legally. The 24-year-old risked a FIFA ban after extending his deal with Zamalek in August, although he had earlier penned a four-year contract with Anderlecht. The Belgian giants called on FIFA to send them Shikabala's International Transfer Certificate (ITC) before the world governing body decided to keep it until further notice. After Zamalek reiterated Shika's desire to stay at his boyhood club, Anderlecht announced they are interested in his services no more. "It would be unreasonable to try to bring a player to Brussels against his will," said General Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck on Anderlecht's official site. A while back, Anderlecht had two bids for Shikabala turned down by Zamalek, who were determined to keep hold of their prized asset. The Egyptian international has been an integral member of the Whites' squad since rejoining the Cairo side in 2006 after ending a two-year spell with Greek side PAOK.
