Luck has finally favored Ahli to help them to a Super Cup victory at the expense of Harras Hodoud, according to coach Hossam Al-Badri. Ahli laid Hodoud's ghost to rest after defeating them 1-0 at Cairo Stadium on Sunday, thanks to a second-half goal from playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika. The Red Devils snapped a four-match winless streak against Hodoud, who defeated them in last season's Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup final as well as holding them to two Premier League draws. "We were better than Hodoud today, and we were also better in last season's games," Al-Badri said after the game. "But the difference is that luck was on our side today, that's why we emerged winners." Al-Badri, who replaced Portuguese coach Manuel Jose last summer, enjoyed his second triumph at the helm of Ahli after leading them to the Premier League title last season. It was also the sixth Super Cup win for an Ahli side who are tipped to maintain their local dominance this term after signing several high-profile players including Egyptian internationals Geddo and Hossam Ghaly. "This is an ideal start to our season. The win tonight is a morale-boosting one," Al-Badri added. "We want to win all titles this season but our primary objective is to win the African Champions League." Ahli settled for a 1-1 draw away to Nigeria's Heartland in their Champions League group stage opener last week. They next face bitter rivals Ismaili at home on the first of August.
