Striker Endurance Idahor of Sudanese side Merreikh has died during a league game on Saturday after collapsing on the pitch. The Nigerian suffered a heart attack after 15 minutes of Merreikh's match against Al-Amal. He suddenly fell on the ground while he was getting ready to connect with a free kick from the right. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital afterwards and his death was later confirmed. The referee called off the game, which was played at Merreikh Stadium, after consulting his assistants. Idahor had spells with Nigerian sides Julius Berger and Dolphins in the early 2000s before joining Merreikh in 2006. He finished as the Sudanese league top scorer in his first season with the 17-time domestic champions. He had a brief loan spell with Saudi Arabia's Nassr in 2008 before returning to Merreikh.
