Cristiano Ronaldo returned from suspension to score twice and give Real Madrid a 3-0 victory over bottom side Xerez in the Primera Liga on Saturday. The Portuguese wizard missed Real's previous two games for elbowing Malaga defender Patrick Mtiliga last month. He scored a brace in two minutes on his return to help Real overcome Xerez. Right-back Alvaro Arbeloa opened the scoring on the 64th minute before Kaka combined with Ronaldo twice to make sure of the win. Ronaldo headed in a cross from the under-fire Brazilian playmaker in the 69th minute. He completed the rout two minutes later when Kaka squared the ball to him for an easy tap in after Xerez keeper came out of his goal. Second-placed Real narrowed the gap with leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona to two points. However, Barcelona can regain their five-point advantage if they beat Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
