Ittihad reached an agreement with former Zamalek manager Carlos Cabral to become their new boss, the Egyptian Premier League club said on Friday. "Cabral will earn $15,000 as a monthly salary," an Ittihad official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com. "But he will not be in charge of Ittihad in next Thursday's league game against Zamalek due to shortage of time. Assistant coach Mohamed Nour will lead the team in this match." Ittihad tracked Swiss coach Michel Decastel after Zamalek relieved him of his duties and were also in talks with German Theo Buecker but eventually opted to bring Cabral to Alexandria. The 64-year-old will succeed Taha Basri, who was sacked after the club gained just one point from the first three league games. Cabral won with Zamalek the African Champions League in 2002 and the Egyptian league in 2003 during his first stint at the helm. His second spell with the Cairo giants was far from being successful though as the team finished sixth in the league in the 2004/2005 season - their lowest ever position.
