Ahli captain Ahmed Al-Sayed and assistant coach Alaa Maihoub have both been sanctioned by the Egyptian FA, following incidents in the Super Cup defeat to Harras Hodoud. The Egyptian football governing body said that defender Al-Sayed is banned two games for elbowing Hodoud winger Ahmed Abdul-Malek. Al-Sayed received an early red card as Ahli lost the trophy to Tarek Al-Ashri's team, but the Reds' officials blamed referee Hamdi Shaaban for last month's defeat. Assistant coach Maihoub slammed the referee at the post-match conference and was accordingly fined EGP 5,000 and banned one match.
