ENPPI claimed a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Tersana after a 2-2 draw to book their place in the Egyptian Cup semi-final. A penalty by Tersana striker Ahed Abdul-Maguid six seven minutes from time cancelled out Ahmed Raouf's early opener. Mohamed Zekri put Tersana ahead four minutes into the first-half of extra time but his side were made to pay for Abdul-Maguid's dismissal as ENPPI midfielder Adel Mostafa leveled the score from the spot. In penalties, Tersana's diminutive midfielder Magdi Atwa saw his spot-kick blocked by ENPPI keeper Mahdi Soliman to gift a precious victory to the visitors, who converted all their five kicks. ENPPI, who won the cup once in 2005, will meet Petrojet in the competition's semi-final. Harras Al-Hodoud, who defeated Masri 3-1 on Wednesday, will face the winners of Friday's game between Asyut Petroleum and Olympic. The surprising elimination of the so-called top three - Ahli, Zamalek and Ismaili - gave less fancied teams hope of winning a rare piece of silverware. Thrilling Game ENPPI took the initiative in the thrilling game as they grabbed the lead after nine minutes. Striker Raouf connected with Ahmed Al-Muhammadi's neat cross from the right to blast home from close range.
Tersana eliminated Anwar Salama's men wasted several goalscoring opportunities to extend their advantage. A powerful shot by winger Abdul-Aziz Tawfiq went just wide of the post as ENPPI gained complete control over the match. However, Tersana managed to restore parity with seven minutes remaining through a controversial penalty. The referee adjudged Soliman to have brought down Medhat Ramadan but Television replays showed that there was no contact between both men. Abdul-Maguid converted the penalty to send the game into extra time. A dreadful blunder by Soliman helped Tersana add a second in bizarre fashion. The young guardian, who was given a chance to prove his worth, threw the ball at the feet of Zekri instead of picking out a teammate. Towering striker Zaki easily slotted home from inside the area to give Tersana the lead. Abdul-Maguid was sent-off for a second bookable offense and ENPPI made their numerical advantage count shortly after. Just before the end of the extra-time first-half, Mostafa converted a penalty after Ramadan handled Mohamed Al-Zayat's cross. Neither side was able to notch the decisive strike afterwards as ENPPI settled the tie in the penalty shoot-out.
