Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti implied that the referee who presided over the Rossoneri's Serie A 2-2 draw with Torino is not fully aware of the game's rules. The 17-time Italian champions could have ended the match with a 2-1 win if it wasn't for the home side's late penalty-kick, which was signaled as a result of a controversial handball by Kakha Kaladze. "I don't want to comment on the referee," Ancelotti said. "I just want to say that the rules we went over with the officials in the summer are that when the ball takes a deflection off another part of the body first, then it cannot be considered a voluntary handling offence." Earlier in the second half, Francesco Pratali handled Ronaldinho's shot inside the box, but the referee didn't react. "That Pratali one looks like a penalty to me. But again, I don't want to comment on the referee," he said. Moreover, the Italian tactician criticized his side's performance after a much-needed victory had slipped out of their grasp on Sunday. "We are accustomed to playing in a very attacking way, although we could have been more compact once we took the lead and given Torino less chance to pressure us," he said.
Will Milan catch up with Inter? "We had plenty of opportunities to go 3-1 up, but the only real fault was allowing Toro to pin us back." Late Levelers Two weeks age, Ancelotti's men were also held to a 1-1 away draw by US Lecce, thanks to Andrea Esposito's last-gasp equalizer. Ancelotti reckons the Rossoneri need to redeem themselves and be able to translate their spectacular displays into victories. "I think we are playing good football right now by using our characteristics of possession and close-passing," the coach elaborated. "What we are lacking is the ability to win games that we have played well. It happened at Lecce and again here, so we've got to learn how to control the tempo more when we are in the lead. "It became end-to-end stuff and the game was too open considering the scoreline and it wasn't ideal for us to keep giving Torino so many counter-attacks." Milan now lie in second place with 27 points, three adrift of leaders and defending champions Inter Milan.
