Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo will hold negotiations with the club officials regarding extending his current contract at Old Trafford. The Portuguese have been heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid after excelling with United last season, helping the club win the Premiership and the UEFA Champions league with 42 goals in all competitions. The player's representatives, Gestiftute told Sky Sports that they will approach United officials about prolonging Ronaldo's stay at the club. "We do predict a meeting with Manchester United to speak about the future of Ronaldo," the agents' statement said. "We want to avoid all the rumors in the press and will have contact with the board." While confirming that Ronaldo wants to stay as long as possible at United, Gestiftute said that the 23-year-old will be asking for an improved contract with the club. "It is normal, that a footballer wants a deal to go with his status and one that matches his performances on the field." After his dazzling performances last term, former Sporting Lisbon man, Ronaldo is a firm candidate to win the World and the European player of the year awards to be announced later this year.
