Stoke City frustrated Wigan to come out with a point from the JJB stadium, claiming a goalless draw with Amr Zaki's side. The first half witnessed little action as Wigan struggled to make their visitors bow inside the opening 45 minutes. The Latics' efforts were limited to over-ambitious long-range attempts from Zaki, Wilson Palacios and Antonio Valencia. Ten minutes into the second half, Emile Heskey saw his header going inches wide off Thomas Sorensen's post, for what proved to be the Giant striker's last action of the game. Heskey was struggling with a hamstring problem as Senegal forward Henri Camara was introduced to partner Zaki in attack. In the 66th minute, Zaki should have given Wigan the lead, but the Egyptian sent a free header from Jason Koumas' corner over the bar. Man of the match Sorensen was forced to make some heroic saves to deny Figueroa, Titus Bramble and Koumas as Stoke held on to the draw. Wigan got their 12th points to lie 14th, whereas newcomers Stoke are ninth with 14 points.
