Hosni Abd-Rabou dished out an assist as Ahli Dubai claimed a 2-0 away victory over Al-Wasl to move one point clear of their nearest challengers at the top of the UAE League. The Egypt midfielder set up striker Bare for the opener after 28 minutes. Abd-Rabou controlled a through pass on the edge of the area before superbly back-heeling the ball to Brazilian Bare, who went clear on goal before slotting home. Iranian striker Milad Meydavoudi doubled the lead on the hour mark after converting a penalty. Abd-Rabou could have added the third two minutes from time after a fine individual effort. He skipped past two challengers before firing a powerful shot that went just over the bar. Ahli lie on top of the league table with 12 points, one ahead of second-placed Ain. Abd-Rabou, who joined Ahli from Ismaili on a two-season loan deal, is trying to win over Ahli fans after being heavily criticized for some below-par displays. The 2008 African Cup of Nations best player was jeered by his own fans during last week's 1-0 victory over Al-Jazeera.
