Werder Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs issued a stern warning to his players, following the 3-0 home defeat to Panathinaikos on Tuesday. The Bundesliga side were embarrassingly beaten by the Greek champions at Weserstadion to slip to bottom of UEFA Champions League Group B on three points. Allofs slammed the team's performance as he insisted that the club will be ready to go hard on players if they failed to avoid stupid mistakes. "That wasn't Werder Bremen. All we can do after that is apologize," the former Germany star said after the game. "If the players don't want to get a few things straight in the near future, we'll either have to lower our expectations or part with the players. And we don't want to lower our expectations." Allofs added that the Panathinaikos defeat was one of the worst performances he's watched Bremen produce. "I've seen us play badly before but I can't remember seeing a game in which we've been so gutless, offering so little resistance at the end. "That's the worst accusation you can make against a player but that's what we have to talk about after today." Bremen will visit Cypriot surprise package Anorthosis Famagusta on November 26th, before hosting Serie A champions Inter Milan next month.
