Emad Meteb scored his fifth goal in the Saudi League as Ittihad Jeddah claimed a 3-2 home victory over Najran on Wednesday. The Egypt striker, who joined Ittihad on a season-long loan from Ahli, doubled Ittihad's advantage just before the break. He neatly controlled Mohamed Noor's through pass inside the area before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner of the net. The 25-year-old almost scored his second of the night in the 74th minute but his superb header was denied by Najran keeper. Meteb now leads the scorers' chart with five goals in six league appearances. Ittihad skipper Noor had earlier put the Jeddah giants in front as he needed 40 seconds to open the scoring. Defender Redha Tukar added the third after converting a penalty two minutes past the hour mark. Najran scored two goals to revive their hopes of making a remarkable comeback but Ittihad held onto their lead to move top in the table with 22 points, six ahead of second-placed Hilal.
