Werder Bremen thrashed Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 5-2 in the League game played at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. The visitors secured their five-goals lead through Markus Rosenberg in the 30th and 67th minutes, Naldo on 45 minutes, Mesut Ozil ten minutes after the interval and Claudio Pizzaro. Tim Borowski grabbed a consolation brace for Bayern in the last 15 minutes. Bremen started the game offensively and half an hour on Ozil brilliantly released Rosenberg and the Swedish took full advantage with a cool finish past Rensing. Just before half time, Bayern's sloppy defense couldn't clear Ozil's right side free kick. Michael Rensing could only parry and the rebound was easily tapped in by Naldo. Ozil turned from provider to scorer on 54 minutes when the Bayern defense gave him all the space he needs to time his run and shoot from twenty yards out.
On loan striker Pizzaro added Bremen's fourth on the 59th minute after being fed by Rosenberg who scored the fifth eight minutes later. Borowski's first came on 75 minutes after connecting with a Massimo Oddo cross, before adding a second from an 85th minute volley. In other Bundesliga games, Schalke went top of the league after a 1-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 thanks to a Jefferson Farfan strike. Hertha Berlin grabbed three valuable points after a 1-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach. Arminia Beliefield continued their bright form with a 2-0 win over Cologne and Energie Cottbus were held at home to a 1-1 draw by Bochum.
