Mohamed Barakat is doubtful for Ahli's CAF Champions League encounter against Platinum Stars on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury. The mercurial midfielder was hurt in Thursday's training session, to become the latest injury concern for Manuel Jose's men. "Barakat's availability for Platinum Stars game will be determined tomorrow," Ahli said on their official website on Thursday. Ahli have already lost the services of regular duo Ahmed Fathi and Emad Al-Nahhas as both men face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Former Sheffield United midfielder Fathi ruptured his Achilles tendon while sweeper Al-Nahhas suffered cruciate ligament damage. However, Portuguese coach Jose will be boosted by the return of first-choice keeper Amir Abdul-Hamid. Youngster Ahmed Abdul-Monem deputized for Abdul-Hamid in the last two Egyptian League games after the latter sustained an injury. Abdul-Hamid, who has become Ahli's regular goalie following Essam Al-Hadari's abrupt move to Swiss side Sion, is set to stand between the sticks against Platinum Stars. Last season's runners-up Ahli visit Platinum Stars in the first-leg of the Champions League round of 16.
