Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop is determined to play at the Euro 2008 despite suffering an injury that will keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. "The doctors said I had a break in my foot and put me in plaster. I won't be able to play anymore this season," the Turkish midfielder told the club's official website. The 25-year old player was injured while playing for Turkey in a friendly against Belarus. “I'm determined to play at the Euro. Obviously, it would be fantastic if I was able to feature in the match when we take delivery of the championship shield,“ added Altintop. Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was stunned by the news and said “It comes as a bad shock.“ Altintop is a key player in the Bavarian formation and only missed three games this season because of a previous injury. Turkey will battle against Switzerland, Czech Republic and Portugal in the Euro 2008 group A.
