Emad Meteb said his goal in the Cairo derby was the reward for his coach and Ahli fans' support during his recent goal-drought. "I want to thank all the members of the coaching staff for their support," Meteb was quoted as saying by the club's website. "The fans were patient as well, they kept on cheering me till I finally scored." Meteb netted his just fourth goal of the year in the 2-0 victory over Zamalek on Friday. His other three goals were scored in an international friendly against Angola during the build-up for the African Cup of Nations. The international striker failed to deliver in the competition itself despite starting all the six games of the campaign towards the title. Ahli played four league games after the African Cup, winning them all with Meteb still out of the score sheet. Ironically, Meteb also ended a longer goal-drought last season against his side's archrivals in the Egyptian Cup final. Ahli won 4-3.
