Zamalek defender Beshir Al-Tabie demanded to be named the team's stand-in captain but the club have turned down his request. The combative defender believes he deserves to wear the captain's armband if skipper Hazem Emam is missing because he is 'currently the best player in the team'. However, the Cairo giants decided not to grant Al-Tabie his wish. "The principle which he based his request upon is totally unacceptable," Zamalek official Ahmed Abdullah told FilGoal.com on Saturday. "In Zamalek, the captain should be the oldest member in the team. Keeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed succeeds Emam then come Tarek Al-Sayed and Mohamed Aboul-Ella." Al-Tabie, who rejoined Zamalek from Turkish side Rizespor in the off-season, failed to impress so far. The Egyptian League runners-up lie fourth in the table with 17 points, five adrift of leaders Petrojet, who have a game in hand.
