Robin van Persie's late strike earned Arsenal hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Steaua Bucharest to stay on top of Group H in the UEFA Champions League. The Dutch striker scored the winner 14 minutes from time, to help Arsenal grab a victory for the second successive match as he headed in the decisive goal against West Ham in the Premiership. Van Persie connected with Emmanuel Adebayor's cut-back to fire a powerful drive into the roof of the net. Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring in the first-half, shooting wide from close range. Gael Clichy's deflected cross could have also put the Gunners ahead but Steaua keeper Robinson Zapata did well to handle it. At the other end, Kolo Toure cleared Dica's shot off the line following a poor clearance from Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia.
Sevilla Arsenal are in charge of their group with six points from two matches while Steaua left at the bottom with no points. In the other group match, Sevilla put in an impressive display to beat Slavia Prague 4-2 at home. The Spanish side, who lost to Arsenal in the first round, broke the deadlock after eight minutes, thanks to Frederic Kanoute's goal. Daniel Pudil notched the equalizer 11 minutes later but Luis Fabiano restored the hosts' lead in the 27th minute. Julien Escude added the third in the 58th minute before Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone put the result beyond doubt nine minutes past the hour mark. A late goal from David Kalivoda proved just a consolation for the helpless Slavia.
