Despite beating Getafe 2-1 on Sunday, Celta Vigo couldn't survive in the Spanish top flight and will go down accompanied by Real Sociedad and Gimnastic. Getafe opened the scoring at the 26th minute through Pablo Redondo but Habib Bamogo and Argentinean Matias Lequi were able to snatch the full points of the game at the 36th and 66th minute of the game. But their hopes were dashed by Brazilian Edu who stuck twice to lead Real Betis to a 2-0 away victory against Racing Santander. Celta are 18th with 39 points just one behind Betis and Athletic Bilbao. Valladolid, Murcia and Almeria earned their promotions and will battle in the Primera Liga next season.
