Capello still optimistic about Real title hopes
Published in FilGoal on 18 - 03 - 2007

Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello said that winning is more important than good performance at this stage in the team's Spanish La Liga campaign.
“It would be perfect to do both things, but winning is more important because we can't give more points away at home,” Capello told a press conference on Saturday, ahead of Real's league match against Gimnastic.
Real Madrid are fourth in the Primera Liga table on 45 points, eight behind leaders Barcelona with a game in hand, and Capello believes the title is up for grabs.
“I have always been optimistic, even in difficult times. The squad is united and convinced that we can overcome our difficulties.
“We have chances of doing so. We have to win at home because we are losing the League due dropping points at the Bernabeu. Figures show we can still win the competition,” he added.
The Italian tactician, who is known for his defensive approach, said insisted that he is adopting a more offensive approach to help Real Madrid secure more points.
“We always play with three or four forwards. If my name wasn't Fabio Capello everybody would be saying I'm a very offensive coach.
“The most important thing to have is team spirit and to be united, like we were in Barcelona. My philosophy has always been the same. We play like we know how to and how our opponent's allow us to,” he added.
Real Madrid, who host Gimnastic at the Bernabeu on Sunday, are at the risk of finishing their fourth season without silverware.
