Trezeguet looking forward to facing Argentinean homeland
Published in FilGoal on 06 - 02 - 2007

France striker David Trezeguet said he was looking forward to facing his country of origin, Argentina, for the first time when the teams face off in a friendly international on Wednesday.
"To be honest, this match, I have looking forward to it since 98," Trezeguet told French daily L'Equipe on Tuesday. "I am glad to have the chance of playing against them."
Trezeguet the son of French immigrants to Argentina, but while having been born in France, he lived in Buenos Aires until he was 17.
"I am not Argentinean any more," said the Juventus ace.

With Cisse returning, Trezegol could be sidelined
"I haven't been since I was 17 years old, it was necessary to make a choice and I am very proud to wear the blue shirt, I do not regret," he added.
Trezeguet, who won the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship with France, said that he understands the decision of Gonzalo Higuain of Real Madrid who snubbed a call up by Les Bleus boss Raymond Domenech to play for Argentina.
Even though Higuain chose to take a path opposite than that of Trezeguet, the former Monaco striker said: "I understand very well the decision of Higuain. The shirt, it should be felt…"
Trezeguet, 29, remains uncertain whether he will start against Argentina at Saint Denis on Wednesday, noting that coach Domenech may opt for players who play first division football like Nicolas Anelka and Djibril Cisse.
"I play in the second division, the coach could choose other players" he said. "But I really want to play; I think it could be my first and last match against Argentina."
