Patrick Vieira scored a second-half goal as Inter Milan beat title challengers Palermo 2-1 on Sunday and tightened their grip on the Serie A summit. The France captain drilled home on the hour mark, being fed by Brazilian international Adriano after a show of talent. Zlatan Ibrahimovic had initially put Inter in front as early as the seventh minute with a long-range shot before Amauri leveled the score just before the break. Inter are in charge of the Italian League on 33 points, leaving Palermo in third spot on 27 points. Roma made the most benefit of Palermo's defeat, leapfrogging them to second place after an exciting 4-2 win over Sampdoria. Captain Francesco Totti netted two goals for Roma as Simone Perrotta and defender Christian Panucci were also on the score sheet. Luciano Spalletti's side now have 29 points.
