Czech Republic coach Karel Brueckner agreed to extend his contract with the Czech federation as national team coach till the 2008 European championship. "A few moments ago, we reached and agreement with Brueckner to stay with the team for two more years," Czech FA vice president Vlastimil Kostal was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Network. Brueckner took over as Czech manager in 2001 and he managed to steer the team into the 2004 European championship semi-finals as well as reaching the World Cup in Germany making them a recognized force in European football. However he was expected to resign after the Czech's early elimination from the World Cup on the hands of Italy and Ghana, but the 66-year-old said that he was happy to lead the team for two more years.
