Real Madrid presidential candidate Lorenzo Sanz has made bold claims that he will sign five world-class players if he wins the elections that are set for Sunday, Spanish newspaper 'As' reported. Sanz, who was Real's president in the late 1990s, exuded with confidence as he told a news conference on Thursday that his technical staff would step down from their prospective positions if the deals fall through. "These players have agreements with my technical staff who, if we win the election, will resign if we are not able to carry out the deals on Monday," Sanz said. "They are Dutch defender Khalid Boulahrouz, Italian defender Gianluca Zambrotta, England midfielder Michael Carrick, Brazil midfielder Emerson and Argentinean midfielder Fernando Gago, who plays for Boca Juniors." Real Madrid's elections campaign has witnessed several candidates making claims similar to those of Sanz in order to lure voters. Ramon Calderon, another frontrunner for the Real position, had claimed on Wednesday that he will sign Chelsea winger Arjen Robben and AC Milan's Kaka. "I have no doubt Kaka is going to play at Real Madrid and I am delighted he is coming," Calderon said. "Robben has also signed a contract with this candidacy," the Spanish businessman declared. Chelsea were quick to rubbish Calderon's claims through an official statement that read: "The club totally refutes statements made by Calderon linking Robben with a move to Real Madrid. "Chelsea would like to make it clear that we have not spoken to Calderon or any of his representatives and categorically deny the suggestion that an agreement on any level has been reached." Milan, on the other hand, had already responded to Calderon's claims in a more practical way.
Cristiano Ronaldo The 24-year-old Kaka put pen to paper on a deal that will see him with the Rossoneri until 2011, noting that he had no interest in joining Los Meringues. "I signed this contract and now the stories about me going to Madrid should go away. I have no intention of leaving Milan. I am happy here," Kaka said upon signing. Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo was also involved in the Real election frenzy after announcing he was willing to part ways with Manchester United if candidate Juan Villar Mir won the elections. "I have told my agent I am prepared to leave. I want to do it in the best manner possible. I want to play for Real Madrid and dream of doing so," Ronaldo told the Spanish sports daily Marca on Tuesday. "I have told my agent I am prepared to leave. I want to do it in the best manner possible. I want to play for Real Madrid and dream of doing so," Ronaldo told Spanish sports paper Marca on Tuesday. Villar Mir confirmed Ronaldo's statements in a press conference on the same day. "Everything with Ronaldo is true as he has said himself. We are acting within FIFA guidelines. Manchester know we are talking to him. We are approaching this issue through the front door," he said. Manchester United were prompt in denying Villar Mir's allegations and denied any intention of selling the Portuguese prodigy. "Manchester United is astonished with Villar Mir comments," the club said in a statement on their official website. "There has been no contact between Manchester United, his election team and/or Real Madrid and any suggestion there has is incorrect. "Ronaldo has signed a long term contract until June 2010 and will be a player with Manchester United next season."
