Bayer Leverkusen striker Dimitar Berbatov has agreed a £10.9-million ($20.6-million) deal with Tottenham Hotspur, Sky Sports on Wednesday. "There were a number of clubs interested in signing Dimitar, clubs from France, Spain and The Premiership," Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli said. "We are delighted he has chosen to join us. He is a tall, skilful, highly-talented striker who not only has a proven track record of being able to finish, but also of creating scoring opportunities for team-mates," he added. The Bulgarian international's move to White Hart Lane is only pending a work permit, after agreeing on all the personal terms. Berbatov, who was named Bulgarian player of the year in 2002, 2004 and 2005, expressed his happiness with the impending deal and hailed the Spurs' all-star squad. "Tottenham is a club that is building something special. The squad has some terrific young players, an excellent manager and coaching staff and I am looking forward to playing my part," Berbatov told the official Tottenham website. Berbatov's deal with the Premiership club is bound to cast doubt over the future of Egyptian star Ahmed Hossam “Mido”, who is nearing the end of his loan with the club.
