En battant Moqaouloun 2-0, le mercredi soir à l'occasion d'un match de la 23ème journée du championnat, Ahli a brisé un nouveau record en championnat national en brisant l'ancien record de Zamalek de 52 matchs sans aucune défaite. Par ses derniers trois points Ahli consolide sa place à la tête du classement avec 63 points soit à 8 longueurs devant Zamalek, 55 points de même qu'il aurait joué 53 matchs sans aucune défaite. Ahmed Al-Sayed a ouvert le score à la 4ème minute en transformant de la tête un corner. Ensuite Ahli a eu plusieurs occasions mais sans pouvoir vraiment les concrétiser. En début de la seconde période, Mohamed Abou Tréka double le score sur pénalty (49) après une faute commise sur Emad Al-Nahas dans la surface. Il est à noter que le milieu vedette Mohamed Barakat a participé à la rencontre dès le début. C'est le premier match de Barakat depuis sa blessure contre Haras Al-Hodoud. D'autre part Zamalek a aussi battu Enppi 1-0 par un but du défenseur Mohamed Mahmoud. Ce dernier a transformé un coup franc de Mohamed Abou El Ela au fond des filets. Lors du prochain match contre Ahli, Zamalek n'aura d'autre choix que de s'imposer afin d'avoir une petite chance de remporter le titre.
