Ahli a pris le large en tête du classement égyptien avec une différence de cinq points devant son plus proche rival Zamalek, après avoir battu Ismaïli 2-0, le mercredi soir, à l'occasion d'un match en retard de la 13ème journée du championnat égyptien. Emad Al-Nahas a ouvert le score à la 45ème minute sur pénalty et Wael Gomaa à doublé la marque à la 90ème minute d'un bon coup de tête. En gros c'était un match assez moyen de la part des deux équipes qui manquaient à plusieurs de leurs vedettes. Comme d'habitude Flavio Amado a perdu un grand nombre de chances pour Ahli en première période et n'a pas pu concrétiser l'effort de ses coéquipiers notamment Mohamed Abdel Wahab le meilleur joueur de cette première période. Et juste avant le sifflé de la mi-temps Ahli obtient un pénalty en raison d'une faute contre Mohamed Chawki dans la surface. Un pénalty qui a suscité de nombreuses polémiques et qui a été ensuite bien concrétisé par Emad Al-Nahas juste avant la fin de la première période. En deuxième période la situation s'est complètement renversée surtout avec les Derviches qui ont foncé vers l'attaque pour décrocher le but d'égalité. Ils ont dominé la partie en terme de possession mais n'ont pas pu créer une grande menace au gardien d'Ahli. Et de nouveau l'attaquant angolais a raté plusieurs importantes chances d'Ahli qui aurait pu soulager son public. Mais il a fallu attendre à la tête de Gomaa en fin du match qui a transformé un coup franc d'Abdel Wahab au fond des filets pour assurer les trois points du match. Par cette victoire Ahli a accumulé 50 points ouvrant ainsi l'écart à cinq points avec Zamalek alors qu'il lui reste encore un match à jouer.
