Mohamed Helmi has succeeded Theo Buecker as Masri's head coach after the German coach was given the sack on Tuesday night. The Port Said side decided to relieve Buecker of his duties after his men lost 3-1 to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday. The defeat leaves el-Masri in 12th place with 32 points, only three above the relegation zone, prompting the firing of Buecker. Buecker took charge of el-Masri in January and the coastal outfit were relatively consistent under his management, losing only twice to Cairo duo Ahly and Zamalek. El-Masri won three matches and drew eight in the past few months. Former Mansoura boss Helmi will be working with the same backroom boys who assisted Buecker.
