ALTHOUGH there's no advertising campaign for AVEX 2010 airshow, which is due to be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh on November 7-10, it is proving a great attraction. Around 48 companies are expected to participate in the event. Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafiq is holding regular sessions in preparation for the airshow, which is included into the list of the international airshows. "The number of participants is expected to rise this year to more than 60 exhibitors and 15 other manufacturing companies," said Medhat Hindawi, the Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Airports, stressing that AVEX is playing a vital role in developing air transportation industr in Africa and the Middle East. The exhibition will include indoor and outdoor exhibitions, an aircraft showcase park, an international airports pavilion, an African Aviation Unity summit, an AVEX Awards ceremony, aerobatic and flying displays and flybys and an AVEX entertainment zone, which will be created this year. This year's edition of AVEX is the fourth. The event is organised and sponsored by the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry. It was first held in 2005 when it drew around 25 participants, while the second was held in 2006 when 50 exhibitors showed up. World-renowned aircraft manufacturers like Airbus showed up too. The third edition was held in 2008 when around 51 exhibitors attended the airshow along with 11 other sponsoring companies. It's expected that the AVEX 2010 would achieve more success now that it has been included into the list of international airshows.
