CAIRO – The US Embassy's Cultural Affairs Section, in co-operation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, has invited the American ‘Voices of Inspiration' choir to participate in the International Samaa' (Listening) Festival for Sufi Music and Chanting, to be held in Egypt from August 15 to 25. The American band will perform at Qoubet Al-Ghouri in the Islamic Cairo district of Al-Hussein, at 9pm from August 15 to 17. This is the first-ever American participation in this festival and it represents a landmark in US-Egyptian cultural exchange programmes. ‘Voices of Inspiration' is a premier international vocal group that shares the sounds of traditional and modern-day Gospel music, a form of religious musical expression found in African-American churches across the United States. Dedicated to their craft, every member of ‘Voices of Inspiration' has been to a prestigious music university and has performed with internationally known artists. The group was founded by a group of friends and Gospel singers who have spent years touring Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, South America and the United States.
