CAIRO - A Cairo court Saturday ordered a media gag concerning the trial of an Egyptian and two Israeli officers suspected of spying for Israel; stating that the blackout was meant to preserve national security, a judicial official said. The State Security Court banned all media outlets from publishing reports on the trial of Tareq Abdel Raziq and two Mossad officers charged with spying for Israel, the official said. He added that the hearings will resume Sunday. The official pointed out that the media gag, which takes effect as of today, was intended to preserve Egyptian national security. Abdel Raziq was arrested last year for passing critical information to Israel. The two Mossad officers are tried in absentia.
