CAIRO - The Egyptian Museum has received an ancient relic that Switzerland's Basel Museum returned under an official demand by the Cairo Government, Minister of Sate for Antiquities' Affairs Zahi Hawass said. The 5,000-year old relic, taken from the tomb of an ancient Egyptian noble, arrived in the museum on Wednesday night, Hawass said in a statement. The Basel Museum said it had decided to return the relic, which is made of limestone and dates back to the Fifth Dynasty 2323-2465 B.C, after Hawass negotiated its return with the Swiss authorities.
