CAIRO - Egypt's Minister of Finance Samir Radwan asserted that the ministry prepared the list of the martyrs of January 25 Revolution to give their families exceptional pension, urging Egyptians to revise the list, the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Saturday. "The ministry was keen to give dues of the martyrs to their families quickly," Rdwan was quoted by the MENA as saying. He added that the ministry would pay LE1500 monthly to each martyr, in addition to 15 per cent rise this month, which will be added to all Governmental salaries and pensions. The Social Insurance Boxes issued cheques of 185 families so far. An Egyptian fact finding committee, consisting of judges, has found that the toll of the 25 January revolution was higher than hitherto thought: at least 846 dead, and about 6500 wounded. The report, that was released on Tuesday, accuses the security forces of “excessive” use of force during the mass protests, using live ammunition and cars to run over people.
