CAIRO - A trade delegation from the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council of India (ESC), led by Deputy Director Vikas Gupta, is currently visiting Egypt to explore avenues for increase in commercial exchanges between India and Egypt especially to tie up joint ventures with Egyptian IT companies, a news release said Friday. The delegation represents 18 Indian companies in areas of IT solutions for telecom and security, banking and finance software, ERP Integrated software solutions and hardware products such as automotive security devices, electronics, telecom and printing products. Egypt has traditionally been one of India's most important trading partners in the African continent. During the year 2008-09, I ndia was 11th largest source of Egyptian imports while India ranked fifth in the list of top target countries of Egyptian exports. Bilateral trade between India and Egypt amounted to approximately $3 billion in 2009-10. Indian investments in Egypt presently amount to $2 billion in over 45 projects. The governments and the business communities in India and Egypt are working closely to promote the dynamism in bilateral economic relations. The visit of the ESC delegation is part of the efforts to expand trade and economic relations between Egypt and India.
