Pakistan PM condemns Israeli violence in Khan Younis
Published in Daily News Egypt on 27 - 07 - 2024

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned the ongoing violent acts by Israeli forces in the city of Khan Younis, Gaza, which have caused the displacement of approximately 150,000 Palestinians.
In a statement, the prime minister highlighted that the siege of Khan Younis has halted the supply of food and other essential commodities to the area. He described the Israeli actions as genocide, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe. Shehbaz Sharif urged the international community, including the United Nations, to fulfil their responsibilities in addressing the crisis.
He noted that Pakistan had effectively advocated for the Palestinians' right to self-determination and against Israeli oppression in a statement at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The prime minister reiterated his call for the implementation of recent ICJ decisions and United Nations resolutions regarding the situation.
Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned that Pakistan had dispatched approximately 1,200 tonnes of relief goods to Palestine via Pakistan Air Force planes and another 1,500 tonnes through three ships. Additionally, he had issued special instructions for the enrolment of Palestinian medical students in Pakistani medical colleges to support their continued education.
Calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions in Palestine, the prime minister reaffirmed that the government and the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with their Palestinian brothers and sisters.
