The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the annual urban inflation in Egyptrose to 5.7% in August, compared to 5.4% in July 2021. On a monthly basis, the urban inflation slowed to 0.1% in August, compared to 0.9% in July 2021. CAPMAS said, in a statement on Thursday, that the consumer price index (CPI) amounted to 114.3 points in August 2021, a decrease of 0.1% from July 2021. It attributed the decline to the decrease in prices of meat and poultry by 4.3%, fish and seafood by 0.8%, and garments by 0.2%. However, other goods witnessed price hike, including vegetables by 4.7%, fruit by 1.3%, dairy and eggs by 0.3%, vehicles by 1.9%, private transportation by 1.8%, and hospital services by 0.5%. According to the agency, the annual headline inflation recorded 6.4% in August 2021, compared to 6.1% in July 2021, and 3.6% in August 2020.
