Minister of Health Hala Zayed left on Saturday to the United States to head a delegation at the Harvard Medical College where trainers and doctors are completing the Egyptian Fellowship Programme, as part of the Ministry's strategy to develop a vocational medical education, and complete Egypt's health reform.
In a statement, Khaled Mogahed, the spokesperson for the ministry, said that the minister is scheduled to discuss with Harvard's experts the completion of training programmes that began in December with a delegation from Harvard Medical College for the first batch of Egyptian trainers.
The training was held at the Princess Fatima Academy for vocational medical education, within the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Egyptian Fellowship of the Ministry of Health and Harvard Medical School.
Mogahed pointed out that the second training programme within the Memorandum of Understanding includes training for Egyptian fellows in clinical research, and to start in February this year. He said that the approved teaching hours are to be discussed and include interactive lectures through the Harvard Medical College's electronic learning platform.
According to the statement, Zayed will also discuss with Harvard Medical College the results of the Presidential Initiative "100 million health" for countering Hepatitis C and detecting noncommunicable diseases, along with granting certificates qualifying Egyptian nationals as leaders in the country's medical field.
