L'Oréal honours three Egyptian female scientists
Women in Science programme is live proof to our commitment not only to empower women but also science field, part of L'Oréal

Three female scientists got honoured in the 2018 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards on Tuesday their outstanding contributions to the fields of mathematics, science and computer science'.
Notably, Over the past 20 years, the L'Oréal Foundation and UNESCO have supported 3,022 talented young female scientists through research fellowships. These L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science fellowships are awarded annually at national and regional ceremonies held in 117 countries, among this number 16 exceptional Egyptian scientists has been recognised.
The three awarded women were Amira Al-Yathebi, post-doctorate fellowship in Alexandria University, Marwa Balaha PhD student Fellowship and Noha Mostafa, PhD student fellowship in Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry.
Al-Yathebi completed her studies in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, whereby she obtained her master's degree in analytical chemistry and her doctorate degree in chemistry. Meanwhile, the PhD fellowship, Balaha, who is a researcher in the field of drug design and Mostafa, a researcher in the field of pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
The event was attended by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr, Benoit Julia L'Oréal Egypt managing Director, Programme partners UNESCO and the Academy of Science, the National Council of Women, In addition to a notable presence of government officials, scientific key figures and top tier media.
On this occasion, Benoit Julia L'Oréal Egypt's managing director commented, “We are absolutely proud of the 1st edition of For Women in Science Egypt Programme, celebrating and recognising those three exceptional researchers. The Fellowship goes beyond the financial support; this award will open new doors, and new professional opportunities to our honourable fellows."
