Al-Sisi to issue governorate demarcation decree, cabinet approves final draft: Local development minister
Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 03 - 2015

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is expected to issue a decree for a new demarcation line for Egypt's governorate borders next week, according to Minister of Local Development Adel Labib.
In a statement to Daily News Egypt, Labib said that during the second day of the Economic Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, the cabinet approved the final draft of the new demarcation law designating Egypt's new governorates. Labib added that the Legislative Reform Committee and the Ministry of Transitional Justice both revised the new law, and it has been sent to the president.
Labib said they have agreed with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb to execute a plan for the development of governorates through the needed fund for all small- and medium-sized projects for youth. The plan is being discussed with all governors, to be implemented before the end of the first quarter of 2015, he added.
Invitations have been sent to all banks, especially state-owned banks, to actively partake in providing funds for the projects, Labib added. Several meetings between governors and bank chairmen will take place at the end of this month to agree upon the mechanisms of implementing the plan.
"Executing the development plan in governorates will help reduce traffic on Cairo through providing suitable job opportunities for young Egyptians in all governorates. This will, thus, increase demand on these governorates, especially poor ones, which will contribute greatly to the whole geographic development," he added.
