CAIRO: General Prosecution said Wednesday that 312 protesters arrested across the country since Sunday have been released, with only five still being interrogated.
Prosecution said the five protesters are detained in criminal charges and awaits court order to further detain those pending investigations.
Al-Nadeem Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Victims said that 22 protesters were arrested Tuesday night from Tahrir Square and were questioned by Abdeen Prosecution on Wednesday about accusations of using pellet guns.
Meanwhile, protests across the country organized by university students and youth groups continued for the fifth day against police brutality, leading to escalating tensions between protesters and security forces.
Clashes erupted in Assuit, Qena, Aswan, Luxor, Minya, Mansoura and Alexandria while Central Security Forces practiced self constraint for the first time in Suhag, according to April 6 Youth member in Suhag Kariman Kamal.
