KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand's Prime Miniter Yingluck Shinawatra is pushing her country's ambassadors to market Thai community products under the government-supported One-Tambon-One-Product (OTOP) campaign overseas. During an annual meeting of Thai ambassadors and consuls-general at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok Monday morning, the PM said that Thai ambassadors and consuls-general have good knowledge about overseas markets and can let buyers and sellers meet. She acknowledged that OTOP goods resulted from local Thai wisdom and have high values; so, she “would like to introduce them to the international community.” Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul told the Thai ambassadors and consul-generals “to actively promote Thai products in the countries or areas they are stationed in order to further boost the national economy.” Community products introduced to the top Thai envoys include skincare herbs, Thai silk, stingray leather bags, cow leather shoes, as well as gems and jewellery.
