Egypt's police fires a large number of teargas canisters from the direction of the US embassy into Tahrir Square in the morning hours of Wednesday. The attack came as skirmishes between protesters and the security forces continued for the 9th day in a row overnight. Several hundred protesters had slept in tents in the square on Tuesday night following a massive anti-Morsi rally earlier on Tuesday evening and many woke up to the sound of the canisters and the smell of gas. Clashes between protesters and police have left at least two dead and hundreds injured in the past week. Meanwhile, clashes between anti-Morsi protesters and Brotherhood members broke out in the late hours of Tuesday evening in several cities across the country including Mahallah, Port Said and Mansoura. These clashes left tens injured with a few protesters in serious condition.
