Egypt hosts 1st Arab ministerial forum for housing in December
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 15 - 11 - 2015

Egypt is scheduled to host the first Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development on December 20-22, 2015, to discuss housing and urban development issues in Egypt and the Arab world.
The Egyptian Ministry of Housing will organise the event in cooperation with the Arab league, and the United Nations Human Settlement Programme.
The event is to be attended by the Arab ministers of housing, the heads of cities and municipalities and the governmental decision makers concerned with housing and urban development.
The head of AMFHUD's organizing board Nafisa Hashim said the forum will raise consciousness towards sustainable urban development, as well as present the leading Arab experiences in the field to implement the best plans and programmes of housing and urban development.
The forum will also discuss the best methods to develop slums, infrastructure, water supply and sewer services, Hashim said, adding that issues of quality of life, including affordable housing were also on the agenda.
As for the forum's sessions, it would include 16 sessions to discuss six main axes which are social justice, sustainable development, climatic changes, legislations, infrastructure and man services, and risk control.
AMFHUD was approved to be established in 2012 in the 29th council of Arab ministers for Housing and Construction, targeting the sustainable urbanization of the Arab states, according to UN-Habitat website, and is responsible for providing a technical platform for reporting on goals related to development.
