Egyptian-Japanese Business Council, UNDP sign MoU to boost sustainable collaboration

The Egyptian-Japanese Business Council and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration and promote sustainable development in Egypt. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Investment and International Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, along with the Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, OKA Hiroshi.
The partnership aims to strengthen co-operation between Egypt and Japan, focusing on areas such as joint events, investment promotion, capacity building, and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals. The MoU will facilitate collaboration between the Council and UNDP to expand their activities in Egypt and promote sustainable development. It also seeks to integrate Japanese expertise into Egypt's development efforts.
The Egyptian government has recently implemented positive measures to encourage foreign investment, with a particular focus on attracting Japanese investment. Minister El-Khatib highlighted the importance of this partnership in leveraging Japanese experience and expertise to support Egypt's sustainable development goals.
The Japanese Ambassador emphasised the significance of the MoU in strengthening bilateral co-operation and promoting capacity building and technology transfer in Egypt. He expressed appreciation for the Egyptian government's efforts to create a conducive environment for foreign investment.
UNDP officials commended the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council as a successful model of partnership and expressed their commitment to working closely with Egyptian private sector companies.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from both Egyptian and Japanese government agencies, as well as representatives from the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council and the UNDP.
