Egypt's inflation drops to 33.1% in March

Egypt's general Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped to 221.6 points in March 2024, indicating an annual inflation rate of 33.1 per cent down from 36.0 per cent in February 2024, as per the CAPMAS report on Monday.
Monthly Inflation rate for the country reached 1.0 per cent in March 2024 compared to 11 per cent in February 2024.
The prices of the grains and bakery group saw a decrease of 0.3 per cent, the vegetable group dropped by 3.5 per cent, while the prices of the meat and poultry dropped by 2.3 per cent, the seafood was down by 0.7 per cent, the dairy and eggs fall by 1.6 per cent, the fruit dipped by 0.8 per cent, the sugar and confectionery fell by 1.1 per cent.
Actual housing rents climbed by 0.8 per cent, gas, and other fuels group by 0.2 per cent, medical products, appliances, and equipment group rose by 2.6 per cent, outpatient medical services group by 1.4 per cent.
Vehicle purchasing prices was up by 2.4 per cent, the transport services increased by 3.6 per cent, the postal services hiked by 5.7 per cent, the organised tourism tours was up by 6.2 per cent.
