Egypt's UHIA, private sector sign cooperation protocol to facilitate heath care access
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 06 - 06 - 2023

Egypt's Minister of Finance, and Head of Universal Healthcare Insurance Authority (UHIA), Mohamed Maait witnessed on Tuesday the singing protocol between the UHIA, the Ministry of Health and Population, the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), and eHealth company.
Maait confirmed that there are new mechanisms to ensure the primary care services' quality for comprehensive health insurance beneficiaries, this on the sidelines of the Africa Health ExCon Medical conference.
These mechanisms include incentive packages to contract with private primary care units and centres that fulfilled quality requirements and specifications issued by the GAHAR, he added.
The agreement contributes to the development of an effective mechanism to enhance the private sector's participation in expanding the network of health service providers under the supervision of this advanced system, Maait added.
UHIA's head further mentioned that this comes in conjunction with the progressive application of comprehensive health insurance in the governorates; to ensure citizens' access to health services that meet their needs.
This protocol helps to establish an integrated road between government health agencies and the private sector to facilitate access to services and expand health coverage provided, he concluded.
